On Saturday 7th March we held a Gallopathon on Hampstead Heath athletics track. The Gallopathon was a fun event for all the family. We had 3 different entry levels suitable for all abilities the youngest galloper was 6 and the eldest 66.  We had such fun and helped raise a load of cash for comic relief.

Thank you to everyone who made the event a success. Here's to Gallopathon 2016. We think it's got a lot to live up to!

Happy Galloping!

PRESS RELEASE FROM COMIC RELIEF

MIRANDA HART SURPRISES FANS AS THEY GALLOP FOR GLORY AND RED NOSE DAY

Miranda fans kick off nationwide tribute ‘Gallopathon’ to raise cash for Comic Relief – and get a surprise visit from Miranda Hart

Miranda Hart surprised fans this afternoon (Saturday 7th March) by joining dedicated fundraisers to kick off a mile-long ‘Gallopathon’ on Hampstead Heath. Gallopers included none other than Comic Relief founder Richard Curtis who, along with partner Emma Freud and their family, joined the group of Miranda superfans to take part in the Red Nose Day fundraiser, inspired by Miranda’s self-titled TV show.

Miranda said: “Today has been amazing! When I saw on Twitter that this group of people were coming together to try and raise £10,000 for Comic Relief I just thought it was extraordinary. These fans have created something that was a silly joke of mine – gallop instead of run - into this wonderful fundraising event. I hope this gets bigger and better every year!”

Gathering in the spring sunshine on the Hampstead Heath athletics track, sporting Red Nose Day onesies and t-shirts, horse costumes and custom-made Gallopathon tops, the Gallopers were delighted to have so far raised £10,000 in sponsorship. Money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives all over the UK and across Africa. Supporters can sponsor the Gallopers here: my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/mirandas-gallopers

The brainchild of superfan and dedicated fundraiser Emily Turnham, today’s Gallopathon is the first of more than 30 planned all over the UK in locations as diverse as Gyllyngvase beach in Falmouth, Cornwall, and brand new Chelmsford City Racecourse in Essex, as the comic star’s fans join forces in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Red Nose Day.

Mum of one Emily, aged 30, from Bocking in Essex, said: “I absolutely love Miranda and was inspired to get like-minded fans together to gallop after watching the final ever episode at Christmas. It’s spiralled in a way I never imagined, and now we have more than 160 people taking part in Gallopathons all over the country – such fun!”

She added: “Before I turned 30 I made a ‘bucket list’ of 30 things I wanted to achieve by my birthday. Raise £1,000 for Comic Relief was one of them, so to have reached £10,000 and counting is a dream come true.”

Emily and her fellow Gallopers are just some of the amazing fundraisers doing weird and wonderful things in the name of Red Nose Day, coming this Friday 13th March. Fundraising ideas, kits and giving pages are all available from rednoseday.com.

To really look the part, fundraisers can pick up the official Red Nose Day t-shirt from TK Maxx, and of course Red Noses from Sainsbury’s.

Today’s Gallopathon took place at Hampstead Heath athletics track, thanks to the kind support of Paul Maskell and the team at Hampstead Heath, City of London.
